Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some frequently asked questions to learn about some of the culture of our Church. These are the most common questions we are asked, however, if you have a specific question and want to learn more about our Congregation, please feel free to email us and we will get back to you right away.

Why do you meet on Saturdays instead of Sundays and are you 7th Day Adventist?

No, we are not 7th Day Adventist, however we do believe the 7th Day Shabbat (Sabbath) is a blessing from the LORD. According to Scripture the Biblical Sabbath, which is called Shabbat in Hebrew, is from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday. Although, it's our perspective that the Bible does not command us to be in a "Service" on the Sabbath, it is our opinion, that it is more practical to worship in a Saturday Service, as we remember the Sabbath Day to keep it holy by resting. Then, you have the whole day on Sunday to get ready for the week by doing any necessary things to prepare.

Why do you often use Jesus' Hebrew name Yeshua?

It is our view that it's not the language you say His name in, but rather the one who is represented by the name. There are people in our Congregation that may use the name Yeshua, Jesus, or Christo Jesús. However, being that Jesus was called by his parents in His Hebrew name Yeshua, it does help present Him in His Jewish context more clearly.

Why do you call God Yahweh?

God's personal name is referred to as Yahweh several thousand times in scripture. Many times our English Bibles translates by capitalizing all the letters in the name LORD. It was only as a result of tradition that this name stopped being used. Further, we acknowledge that there are differences of opinion on how to pronounce the LORD's name, however, again as stated before, it's the one that the name represents that is most important.

Why do you celebrate the feasts of the LORD if you are not a Jewish congregation?

Although, it is our goal to have our congregation made up of both Jews and Gentiles, we don't agree that these are only "Jewish Feasts". We have found that Yeshua is the main focus of these Appointed Times so in light of that, it makes them very meaningful for Christians to celebrate since we are part of the commonwealth of Israel.

What is the Torah?

The Torah is the first five books of the bible. (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, & Deuteronomy.) As stated by Yeshua (Jesus) in His sermon on the Mount, He didn't come to abolish the Torah (Law) or the writings of the Prophets, but He came to accomplish its purpose and bring it to its full meaning. Furthermore, it is our view that the Torah is the key that unlocks the whole Bible for us to more fully understand.

Do you believe the Gifts of the Holy Spirit are still for today?

We believe that the whole Bible from Genesis - Revelation is relevant and can be applied to our lives. We likewise believe that the Gifts of the Spirit have not ceased but are still available to be used for the edifying of the body of Messiah and that we may have power to be His witnesses.
